Annual School Physicals
School physicals
are held in May, July and August each year for students
entering Kindergarten, 6th Grade, and 9th Grade. For more
information call 815-544-9730.

Childhood Lead Testing and Screening
All
children seen at WIC and Well Child Clinic are screened at 12 months and
annually thereafter for lead risks. Those at risk have a blood sample taken
by fingerstick to determine their blood lead level. It should be less
than 5. All parents receive education about the dangers of lead poisoning.
Teen Sexual Abstinence Education
The Health Department provides a Teen Sexual Abstinence Education program for students in Boone County Schools. For more
information on this program click here.
Vision and Hearing Screening for Preschoolers
The Health Department offers vision and hearing
screenings to children age three and up who attend private / parochial schools,
and to those in licensed day care facilities and preschools. This service is not available to children in
home day care centers.
The screening procedure used
is not diagnostic in nature. Children who do not pass the vision and hearing screening
tests are referred for further evaluation by a physician or optometrist
